Who We Help

Structure, connection, and a path toward greater independence.

For adults 18 and older with psychiatric, neurodevelopmental, or co-occurring needs who require more support than outpatient care alone can provide.

Wild Acre’s clinically informed, relationship-centered programs combine structured support, coordinated care, and community-based skill development. Individuals can stabilize, strengthen daily routines, practice new skills, and rebuild confidence while transitioning from a higher level of care or preparing for a more independent living environment.

When Wild Acre may be helpful

Families often reach out when a loved one is not in acute crisis, but still needs more structure, daily guidance, and support than outpatient treatment alone can provide.

Wild Acre may be helpful for adults who need support with:

Building or rebuilding daily living skills
Creating structure and consistency in daily routines
Strengthening executive functioning skills
Managing appointments, schedules, and responsibilities
Developing medication routines and working toward medication independence
Practicing coping skills and emotional regulation strategies
Establishing healthy self-care routines, including hygiene and sleep habits
Navigating social relationships and conflict
Increasing confidence with transportation and community access
Learning budgeting and financial management skills
Reconnecting with education, employment, volunteer work, or other meaningful daily structure
Reducing isolation and building community connection
Transitioning from a hospital, residential treatment program, therapeutic program, or family home
Preparing for a lower level of support or more independent living

Our support is practical, relational, and rooted in daily life. Residents and clients practice skills through routines, shared living, community outings, appointments, house meetings, groups, and one-on-one coaching from trained staff.

The goal is not simply to provide support in the moment. It is to help each person build the skills, confidence, and structure needed to function more independently over time.

How we determine fit

Finding the right support begins with understanding the whole person.

During the inquiry and admissions process, Wild Acre considers each individual’s current needs, treatment history, goals, strengths, outpatient supports, family involvement, medication routines, daily living skills, and readiness for a community-based environment.

Because Wild Acre offers multiple levels of support, fit is not limited to one program or house. Our team works with families and referral sources to determine whether Wild Acre may be appropriate and, if so, which care option may offer the best balance of structure, support, and independence.

Fit considerations may include:

Current level of stability and support needs
Ability to participate in a home-like, community-based environment
Daily living and executive functioning needs
Medication support needs
Existing outpatient providers or need for outpatient care coordination
Family involvement and communication needs
Substance use history and recovery status
Educational, vocational, or meaningful outside structure goals
Readiness for residential, transitional, apartment-based, or in-home support

Wild Acre is best suited for individuals whose needs can be safely supported in a structured, home-like setting.

Individuals who require inpatient psychiatric care, medical detoxification, intensive one-to-one supervision, or very frequent safety checks related to active self-harm may need a higher level of care before transitioning to Wild Acre.

Every referral is reviewed individually. If Wild Acre is not the right fit at the time of referral, our team can help families and providers think through a more appropriate level of care and reconnect when the individual is ready.

Longer-term Residential Support

Generally serves adults in their 40s, 50s, and older who are living with chronic or persistent mental health needs and benefit from ongoing structure, daily support, and a stable residential community.

Short-term Transitional Programs

Often serves adults in their 20s and 30s, as well as adults into their 50s, who are motivated to participate in treatment, strengthen routines, develop skills, and work toward greater independence.

Because Wild Acre is a psychiatric residential program rather than a medical facility, individuals with significant medical needs must be able to safely manage those needs through outpatient medical providers and community supports. Admission is based on a comprehensive assessment of each person’s clinical, functional, and medical needs.

Conditions and challenges we support

Wild Acre works with adults experiencing a wide range of psychiatric and neurodevelopmental conditions. Diagnosis is only one part of determining fit. Our team also considers current functioning, support needs, treatment history, goals, family involvement, outpatient supports, and readiness for a community-based setting.

Conditions and challenges may include:

Thought disorders, including schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder
Bipolar disorder
Anxiety disorders
Depressive disorders
Obsessive-compulsive disorder
Personality disorders
Autism spectrum disorder
Co-occurring mental health and substance use challenges
Chronic mental health challenges requiring ongoing structure and support

Wild Acre is not a primary substance use treatment program or detoxification program. Individuals with a history of substance use are generally expected to have an established period of sobriety before admission and be committed to ongoing recovery.

When clinically appropriate, support may include accountability measures such as breathalyzer testing or urine drug screening in collaboration with the resident and outpatient treatment team.

Wondering whether Wild Acre may be the right fit?

You do not need to determine the right program before reaching out.

Our admissions team can help you understand Wild Acre’s levels of support, talk through your family member’s needs, and explain the next steps in the inquiry process.

Wild Acre is a private-pay program and does not accept insurance. Financial expectations are discussed directly during the inquiry and admissions process.
