Residents live in an apartment setting while remaining connected to Wild Acre’s clinical support model. Support is customized to each person and may include individual case management, clinician-facilitated peer meetings, access to an on-call clinician, and help maintaining routines, managing responsibilities, and working toward personal goals.

Supportive Apartments may serve as the next step after a group residence or as a direct-entry option for someone already capable of apartment-based living with support.

Who Supportive Apartments may be right for

Supportive Apartments may be appropriate for adults who are ready for a high degree of independence while continuing to benefit from individualized clinical case management and a structured support system.

This level of care is often a good fit for individuals who no longer require the intensity of a staffed residential setting, but would benefit from ongoing support as they continue building confidence and independence.

Supportive Apartments may support adults who are:

Transitioning from a residential program or another structured level of care
Ready to test or strengthen their ability to live independently with support available
Relocating to the Greater Boston area and seeking a supportive environment while establishing housing, work, treatment, and community connections
Building confidence with the responsibilities of independent apartment living
Working toward greater independence with medication routines, executive functioning, budgeting, daily routines, and household responsibilities
Connected to, or ready to establish, an outpatient treatment team
Looking for support with employment, education, appointments, community integration, and meaningful daily structure

Residents may live in a private apartment or a shared two-bedroom apartment. When shared apartments are appropriate, roommates are thoughtfully matched based on factors such as functioning, age, clinical presentation, lifestyle, and overall compatibility.

Admission decisions are based on a comprehensive clinical assessment rather than diagnosis alone. Wild Acre considers each person’s current functioning, support needs, treatment history, goals, and readiness for a largely independent living environment.

What Residents Can Expect

Practicing independence with support nearby.

Daily life in a Supportive Apartment gives residents more responsibility for managing their routines, appointments, medication practices, community engagement, and outside structure, while keeping Wild Acre support within reach.

Residents are expected to maintain approximately 20–25 hours of meaningful weekly structure. This may include employment, school, volunteer work, outpatient treatment, community activities, recovery meetings, or other purposeful pursuits.

Some residents enter the program with this structure already established. Others work with their case manager to develop a schedule that aligns with their goals and supports long-term success.

Clinical case management and connection.

Most residents meet weekly with a designated case manager. In some situations, especially during the transition into apartment living or during periods of increased need, more frequent case management visits may be recommended.

Support may include:

Individual case management
Clinician-facilitated apartment peer meetings
Access to an on-call clinician
Collaboration with outpatient treatment providers
Medication organization and routine-building
Schedule and calendar management
Executive functioning and organizational support
Budgeting and money management skills
Employment support and job search assistance
Coaching around daily routines and household responsibilities
Community integration and social support
Assistance coordinating outpatient medical appointments and services, as needed

Additional case management visits, medication management assistance, and coordination of outpatient medical services may be arranged for an additional fee when clinically appropriate.

Readiness for apartment-based support

Supportive Apartments are designed for individuals who are ready to live with greater independence while continuing to benefit from clinical case management and structured support.

Residents are typically medication independent, though case management may include support with medication organization, refill routines, weekly pill organizers, and skills that promote long-term independence.

Individuals entering this level of care generally have an established outpatient treatment team and meaningful weekly structure. Because Supportive Apartments provide a highly independent living environment, residents are required to have a minimum of 90 days of sobriety prior to admission.

Rather than relying on a rigid checklist, Wild Acre evaluates each person’s clinical presentation, level of functioning, support needs, goals, and readiness for independent living to determine whether Supportive Apartments are the right fit.
